Winner of the 2022 DGPO Data Governance Best Practice Award

The Data Governance Professionals Organization has announced Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as the Winner of the 2022 DGPO Data Governance Best Practice Award.

“TNB basically started its Data Governance journey in 2020, and we are still on the route towards achieving higher maturity state in the aspect of data governance and data management,” said Erverna N. Thanasegaram, Lead Enterprise Data Governance for TNB. “We are so honored to be awarded this prestigious award as we enter our third year of the journey. As TNB moves towards being a data-oriented utility organization, effective data governance and data management practices are extremely important, and this recognition just gives us the assurance that we are on the right track.”

DGPO Lead Judge Michele Koch said, “The panel of judges selected Tenaga Nasional Berhad as this year’s winner since they have successfully established all the pillars of a strong DG program. Their comprehensive program framework will ensure continued success for years to come. We wish Tenaga Nasional Berhad, and the other submitters, success on their DG journey.”

About the Award
The award is given to the practitioners within a non-vendor organization in recognition of the business value and technical excellence they have achieved in the design and implementation of an outstanding data governance program. “We frequently read how challenging it is to implement a data governance program,” said Davida Berger, Founder and President of DGPO. “We saw a great need to show that success in data governance is definitely achievable.”

Each submission was judged on responses to the following criteria:

– Business need(s) being addressed
– Approach used to design, develop, and implement the program
– Scope and depth of the Data Governance Program as well as program longevity
-Data governance defined roles and responsibilities
-Communications and marketing approaches
-Policies, procedures, and processes established
-Program metrics and business value provided
