Webinar Details:
Join us July 8th for the DGPO webinar showcasing the 2026 DGPO Data Governance Best Practice Award winner. Patrick Cernea will walk us through York University’s Data Governance Journey, “Building a Practical and Scalable Program”.
Data governance is often positioned as a policy or technology challenge, but lasting progress depends on people, trust, and culture. In this session, York University shares its data governance journey from early foundations to institution-wide adoption, highlighting the practical steps, lessons learned, and approaches that helped move governance from concept to practice. Participants will explore how York built engagement, improved data literacy, strengthened accountability, and created the conditions for more trusted and effective use of data across the institution. The session will also reflect on successes, challenges, and considerations for institutions looking to build sustainable and scalable data governance programs.
